
Remember the day when you click a life change. You can't wait to share it with all your family and friends. Maybe you announce it at a party, or share it online for everyone to see:
"I'm going to lose twenty pounds by Christmas, and fit enough to go running every day!"
Everyone congratulates you with a job well done.

In a recent TED talk talk Derek Sivers about keeping goals secret. According to research makes someone tell your goals they are less likely to happen.
There is some research this is a backup.Peter Gollwitzer from New York University specializes in goals. in his article (PDF) about the announcement of intentions discovers he (in study 3) that people who have announced their objectives give them faster than people who haven't.
This is contrary to what many people think. share their goals and believe that the disclosure helps to keep them accountable.
